COVID-19 Update

3/27/2020

Dear Fresh Start Families,

We hope this email finds everyone staying safe and well! A few updates for you:

Per the guidance of Governor Lamont's executive order, the Fresh Start School building will remain closed at least through April 22, 2020. Because we are providing educational continuity through distance learning to the best of our ability and will continue to do so throughout the scheduled April break, June 12th will be our anticipated last day of school/graduation and awards ceremony day, barring any new circumstances.

Families, please check in with your child to ensure that they have signed into google classroom and google hangouts. Many have successfully logged in and there are still some that have not. Our main goal right now is to get everyone connected on the google platforms. Please encourage your child to log in at least once per day to get their assignments. Encourage them to reach out to their teacher or clinician if they run into any challenges with this.

In true Fresh Start fashion, the team is committed to making the most of this situation, staying positive and finding gratitude in every day. We are taking the slow and steady approach to acclimate the kids to this new reality. We are getting all the academic pieces set up first while also doing our clinical check-ins so they are grounded in that, then we will slowly add the social/emotional group pieces once everyone is comfortable and accustomed. We even have a student attempting to start a dungeons and dragons group! We are all connecting and are going to keep building upon what we are doing.

We are thinking of our students and their families each and every day. This is a challenging and new time for us ALL and we can get through this together!

Have a great weekend and take care,
